How Many Glasses Per Guest?

from Favyt on 10/26/2025 10:45 AM

Hi all! When setting a table for dinner parties, I never know how many glasses per guest is the right number. Should it always be just one multipurpose glass, or is it better to have a different one for water, wine, and maybe more?

A classic formal setup usually includes three: one for water, one for white wine, and one for red wine. Champagne flutes may also be added for celebrations. Using fewer glasses is fine for casual settings, as long as you cover the essentials. Too many can crowd the table and distract from the food. Choosing luxury glassware ensures every piece feels purposeful, not excessive. Baccarat or Lobmeyr designs, for instance, are elegant enough to stand alone but cohesive when grouped. For curated inspiration, the website of MDMAISON highlights luxury glassware that shows how to achieve refinement without overwhelming the setting.
