Choosing Between Tile and Vinyl

from Favyt on 03/05/2026 08:46 PM

Hello! I am torn between putting luxury vinyl planks or traditional porcelain tile in my basement. I want something that looks expensive but can handle the occasional spill. Which one adds more value to a home in the long run? I'd love to hear your experiences!

Greetings! I've used both in different houses, and I have to say that nothing beats the feel and durability of real tile. Vinyl is okay for a quick fix, but it just doesn't have that high-end look that buyers want. Plus, tile lasts for decades if it's done right. When I renovated my basement last year, I decided to go with a wood-look porcelain instead of vinyl. I hired Dream House Tile https://dreamhousetile.ca/ to do the work because they have so much experience with custom layouts. They are a great choice for tile installation services in Toronto and GTA, and their work really transformed the space. You should take a look at their gallery to see how much better a professional tile job looks. It definitely adds more equity to your property.
